Rebecca Macky to Catherine Macky

Salem
Saturday

My dear Kitty
I was fully intending to go to town on Wednesday and William was to go with me but I felt myself rather unequal to the journey as my stomach was quite out of order and the weather has been such since that I gave up the thought of it. Our soiree comes off on Tuesday. Do you intend coming? I was hopeful to see you and Thomas and Ann. As for brother Jo, I suppose such a thing beneath his notice.
I am to spend Monday at the Tamaki in Mr Thompson's. He is to come for me and fetch me home on Tuesday.
Dorcas is to have a table. She has been busy baking cakes and is very anxious. I do wish she had larger cups but I'm sure she'll have abundance any way. If you come, bring your candlesticks for her. Lizzy won't have a table.
Do you want one of your teaspoons? Kind love to all.

I am, as ever, your affectionate sister,
R Macky

Tell Jo I wish he could get me half-a-dozen shirts for Sam. You can tell him the size.
